Grade 5 Camp - Hartbeeshoek
Our Grade 5 leaners were extremely privileged to visit Hartbeeshoek Nature Reserve for their annual camp this year. The venue was an excellent choice, for many reasons, which I mention below.
This Nature Reserve is particularly pretty, and extremely well maintained. The grassed area, gardens, buildings, chalets and amenities are all impressive, and the owners’ love of the farm is absolutely evident as one walks around.
The facilitators were professional, fun, interesting and engaged constantly with the learners, ensuring that no child was left out of any activity or left to feel inadequate. The activities were all very well designed around team work and the learners thrived on the rewards gained by working together as a team to complete tasks. Activities such as shelter building, zip-lining, archery, hiking and mind games all provided a wonderful platform for learning and growth.
The days were long and busy, but never boring, as activities were constantly rotated so that new challenges were provided often. The learners were also given time to relax, swim, chat in groups and generally enjoy themselves.
The fact that the food served was of a high quality, delicious and nourishing added to an all-round rewarding, fun and memorable 3 days. I look forward to returning there in the future.
